Studying on the program has given me a lot, a lot
Firstly, the MBA program taught the "ABC" of business, a universal language spoken by managers all over the world (especially since the training is conducted in English). After studying the ABC, you begin to wonder how a professional manager can speak and write in the language of business without knowing the alphabet.
Secondly, the program helped to believe in yourself and get rid of the complex "I don't have enough knowledge and skills." Interestingly, all the things that I indicated at the beginning of the program as my weaknesses eventually turned into strengths. Thirdly, the value of the program lies in the possibility of communication between people, professionals with extensive work experience. Just imagine – the opportunity for 2 years to have the constant advisory support of a team with 150 years of combined experience! What could be more valuable?! We still maintain very close and friendly relations with many of them.
I sincerely envy those who have yet to get such an exciting and interesting experience as participating in the program.

“I go out of comfort zone and I am confronted to 25 professionals”
What are your impressions of the MBA/EMBA program? (A set of disciplines, the emergence of new ideas, networking)
EMBA Kingston/Ranepa exceeds my expectations. The program is challenging; the workload is quite heavy because I need to engage myself to get the maximum benefits of the program. Leadership is the key word of this program, with a large range of themes. We alternatively see the theories and practical aspect of marketing, finance, leadership, till Corporate Social Responsibility. A particular accent is put on leadership, with different views from inspiring teachers. We share experience through various activities with my classmates. This provides the opportunity to present business subjects that are not always related to my competence. I go out of my comfort zone, and am confronted to 25 professionals. When an idea of business creation emerges, various competences are immediately available among my new colleagues. Based on their experience, an advocate, an IT manager or a marketing manager are immediately available to discuss the idea.
Have you already managed to apply the new knowledge gained on the program in the learning process?
So far the program gave me the opportunity to acquire frameworks that I already can use in my job. I consider projects or event with a broader point of view, taking into account the impact of decisions on all stakeholders. Besides the lectures, I have read a lot of books about leadership, strategy: the writing of assignments provides me the opportunity to increase my knowledge. I better manage work-life balance as well as work-load requested by university. Personally, I have possibility at work to practice all knowledge about core-values and leadership. Concretely, I work on developing my team and improving presentation skills, and fostering cooperation in my entity.
Which teacher is remembered the most? Why?
The panel of teachers is very large thanks to a lot of different profiles, countries or professional experience. Deborah Pinder-Young (Leadership and professional development) gave me a lot of inspiring insights about leadership, how to develop it, and how to develop my self-awareness. This is mandatory to better drive myself and better drive my team. Marwyn Boatswain (Marketing) really takes the class with him, sharing an expressive vision of marketing. He illustrates the theories he explained us with the latest examples of business actuality. The key points of those teachers are experience, knowledge, capacity to demonstrate what is being passionate and inspiring. Deborah and Marwyn communicate their energy and really foster exchanges between us during the class.

Program: Kingston EMBA
The Kingston EMBA program helps to systematize professional experience, objectively assess what you and your organization are doing well, what is not so good, and why. In addition, the program provides applied knowledge that really helps to improve yourself as a professional and a person, and achieve new results in various initiatives. In particular, I can mention the module on leadership and professional development and Maxim Kiselyov, who very clearly and effectively provided the tools for further professional development. I can also add that all the other modules and subjects had and have practical relevance for me in my work, and the methods and frameworks studied have become quite easily applicable in practice and bring positive results.
And, of course, a huge plus of the program is fellow students! We are all so different and that's just fine. Discussions, exchange of experience, different views on the same situation or problem (from business owners to employees of large structures), as well as amazing mutual assistance and cohesion – all this not only helps to develop horizons and achieve goals within the framework of the program, as well as to identify "blind spots" in the analysis of various aspects.
Of course, the program not only meets all my expectations, but even partially exceeded them. In a rapidly changing business world, it is very important to remain competitive and find new opportunities to improve your business efficiency, and Kingston EMBA helps you very well in this.

Dmitry Trofimov, winner of the Leaders of Russia 2019 competition, graduate of the Kingston/RANEPA EMBA 2011 program, shares his impressions about studying at the joint Kingston University London and RANEPA program and about the role of the program in the development of his career and leadership qualities.
How did you come to the Kingston/RANEPA EMBA program? What was important to you when choosing a program?
This was Sberbank's first corporate program, before joint programs with INSEAD (Sberbank 500) and London Business School. The first and last with a real diploma, which I am very glad and grateful to the people who sent me to study at the time. From each territorial bank of Sberbank and the central office, 2 people were sent to the program, I was one of those lucky ones. I think I'm very lucky!
What are your most vivid impressions during the period of study at the program?
For a graduate of Tyumen State Oil and Gas University to get into such a program was something completely unrealistic. Moreover, EMBA was distinguished by the fact that all 100% of classes were held in English, even the methodists were English. As a result of the Program, the level of my competencies: specific professional knowledge, the ability to communicate and present the results of my projects in Russian or English, quickly analyze large amounts of information and make decisions, etc. - has risen by an order of magnitude.
How did your career develop after the program? At what moments did you remember the program with gratitude?
A few months after the end of the Program, I was transferred from the Nizhnevartovsk branch of Sberbank to the central office. I don't think that the career leap was directly related to my training, rather, I managed, despite the enormous load on the Program, to maintain high performance at work and make a couple of significant leaps in performance. This, it seems to me, is the key to the successful monetization of your training on the program – you need to maintain high performance in your current position, and the program should not be perceived as a guarantee of growth because of the EMBA line in the resume, but rather as a catalyst for your current and future achievements.
To whom would you recommend studying on this program?
The only thing I regret is that I was too young (I was 26) and did not fully apply the knowledge gained on the Program in hot pursuit. I think that EMBA should be received when you are 30+ and you are at least Board-1 in your company. Then, indeed, you will get the maximum effect, and not just a line in the resume. The recommendation for future students is the same – you need to show the maximum in your studies from the very first module, there is no time to swing, then you will blame yourself for a very long time for grades and results in the first part of the program that do not correspond to your maximum.

Kingston EMBA is “fire” and “water” for your future “copper pipes".
Anton Zhdanov, winner of the Leaders of Russia 2020 competition, graduate of the Kingston/RANEPA 2016 EMBA program, shares his impressions about studying at the joint Kingston University London and RANEPA program and about the role of the program in the development of his career and leadership qualities.
Anton, how did you come to the Kingston/RANEPA Executive MBA program? What was important to you when choosing a program?
In 2014, after many years of working as a senior lawyer in the largest law firm in Ukraine, in Kiev, I naturally formed a request for career changes, lacked progress and development. I decided that these changes could be implemented through getting a business education, and after a long study of the market, the choice fell on the Executive MBA Kingston /RANEPA. I have scrupulously studied the available options, including European schools, and focused primarily on ratings and reviews. I was also very attracted by the opportunity to study in the English program, but in a more familiar environment, it was very captivating.
What important changes have taken place in your life and career after graduating from the EMBA program?
Fortunately, I am exactly the graduate of the program who has had a lot of positive changes in his life and career, which are certainly related to his education. I moved from Kiev to Moscow, changed my citizenship, and, of course, my job. In principle, the big goal that I set for myself before starting my training was even slightly exceeded, since I managed to head the Moscow office of an international legal group, in the position of General Director. Objectively, it is extremely difficult to carry out such a career transformation in the legal market, but fortunately I managed to do it, although this path was not easy, to put it mildly.
What are your most vivid impressions during the period of study at the program?
For me, the most vivid impression was getting to know my classmates. It was a wonderful experience of constructive discussions, knowledge exchange, understanding of different worldviews and points of view in one audience. And, of course, it is very difficult to forget the visiting module in Kingston, it was very bright and long-forgotten emotions, just like in my student years. The learning process in Kingston is also quite unusual and interesting, of course we have gained a very useful experience there.
Anton, you were at the top, became the winner of the management competition "Leaders of Russia". Did the EMBA Kingston/RANEPA program contribute to this remarkable victory?
Yes, the emotions from this victory have not subsided yet, but I want to say that participation in the face-to-face stages of the competition is one of the most serious challenges I have ever faced in my life. It is difficult to assess what exactly played a decisive role, but it is rather a combination of factors that certainly includes EMBA Kingston/RANEPA. At a minimum, I would not have ended up in Moscow without the program, and would not have acquired management competencies that are extremely important for participation in the competition. Probably, it is also worth emphasizing the importance of experience in mixed teams, which gives considerable confidence and the ability to work effectively in any conditions.
What is the essence of the Executive MBA program for you? Continue the sentence: "Kingston EMBA is..." (the use of associations is welcome).
An internal constructor that allows you to add any shapes from the parts available in you. Personally, I definitely felt that the program allows us to finally bring together many disparate internal processes, become more organized and structured, capable of essentially limitless further development.

What role has Kingston EMBA played in your career and in your life in general? Please tell us about your position before and after the training.
Prior to the start of my training, I headed the Financial and Personnel information systems development department as part of the IT Department of one of the largest retail companies in the Russian Federation. This position implied a large amount of cross-functional interaction with other departments, while there was no opportunity to look at companies "from above". After graduation, I moved to a development company, also one of the largest market players in Russia, only now to a position that implied the development of information systems in all areas of the company's life.
In two years of work at the new place, it was possible to rise to the level of the director of the department, whose area of responsibility is not only IT, but also other functions.
I think that an important role in this was played by the education received as part of the Kingston EMBA program, which made it possible to feel quite comfortable in various fields, as well as quickly adapt to changing conditions.
What new opportunities do you think are opening up for Kingston EMBA graduates?
It is important to note that both before studying and after, a person has unlimited opportunities to realize himself in any areas of our life. Just before studying, not everyone can see them and implement them for various reasons: lack of experience, knowledge in certain areas, lack of necessary skills and hundreds of different reasons and circumstances.
As part of the training program, you get the opportunity to both identify your strengths and enrich yourself with new knowledge, sources of their acquisition, as well as unlimited experience that your fellow students, graduates and students of the program have. Because of course, in addition to knowledge, you get the widest network of contacts and opportunities to expand them, especially considering that the network of contacts is not limited only to our country, since the program is international and involves communication with fellow students from other countries.
In which functional areas of management did you feel yourself at a qualitatively new level, having received a Kingston EMBA education?
First of all, these are communication and presentation skills. During the course of training, you have to communicate a lot with fellow students as part of group work, make presentations, and constantly be in sight. Gradually, this teaches you not to be afraid of the audience and to build your speech correctly during the presentation of the material. This is something that could be felt.
At the same time, as time passes, you begin to realize that the effect is deeper and broader than it seems at first. After training, you begin to see the situation as a whole, and in general there is an opportunity and desire to cover the whole picture, and not in parts, which greatly helps to see the problem from the other side and immediately isolate the main thing.
What are the most vivid impressions in your memory left by the Kingston EMBA program?
EMBA is generally primarily people, oddly enough. When you are just starting to study, it seems to you all the time that right now they will tell you the most cherished thing that will make you successful, that will allow you to achieve any heights and successes. Gradually comes the realization that there is no secret. The most important thing is people: with their help you can achieve any goal, relying on their knowledge, experience and strength.
The most vivid impressions were left from working together in groups, joint trips and performances within the framework of the program. A sense of help and mutual assistance accompanied us throughout the training. After the end of the program, we still communicate and are friends with families.

"Corny as it may seem, but my parents probably helped me get an EMBA diploma at Kingston. It was they who "laid" my foundation and helped to form the main principles of life: never give up, take responsibility, believe in your team. And I did not give up, even when the crazy rhythm of life on business trips (before the pandemic), meetings, it seemed, would never allow me not only to defend my diploma with honors, but to finish my studies altogether. I took responsibility and just did what I had to do – I wrote assignments, listened to lectures, stormed with fellow students. I believed in my team, which was very supportive of me during the training process, and I could not let it down. After all, we always fight to the end.
The value of the program for me was not only in lectures and master classes from leading business experts, the opportunity to do an internship at Kingston University, but, first of all, in people. Such a concentration of professionals from a wide variety of fields gives a powerful charge to move on, helps to look at many things from a different point of view, to find non-standard solutions and approaches. And friends, of course. That was cool! Thanks more to all the teachers and mentors, these two years have not been wasted."

"After receiving a grant for reaching the final of the first Leaders of Russia competition, I faced a difficult task of choosing the direction of education, as I wanted to apply the grant with maximum benefit both for myself and with a high prospect of return and demand for my country.
I believed that every top-level manager, regardless of whether he is in public service, whether he works in a state-owned company or in the commercial sector, should understand the structure of the existing global market, understand the structure and mechanisms of a modern enterprise, the specifics of the current stage of economic development. That is why my choice was defined as training in the Executive MBA format. The next task was to determine the university and a specific business school. The presence of certifications of international business communities and the presence of a full staff of foreign professors conducting training was important here. The ideal choice was the Executive MBA program of Kingston Business School in conjunction with the Presidential Academy of RANEPA. I deliberately chose to study in English, as for me it was an additional motivation to improve my knowledge of it.
The choice was made, and the training started in October 2018. My first reaction in the first lesson of the module was shock. My knowledge of English was not enough, it saved me that the subject of Big Data itself was quite familiar. The recording of lessons and printed materials helped out. In the evening I had to listen and disassemble again. The most interesting thing is that by the fourth day of training, the brain was rebuilt, and a fluent understanding of the teacher appeared (although not all words). I ended up taking an English course separately.
Separately, I would like to mention our group, which was formed as half of the winners /finalists of the first Leaders of Russia competition and half of the trainees who came from real business. All of them are charismatic unique professionals and managers. It would be possible to write a book about everyone from the Life of Wonderful People series. I think that I will enjoy the success of my fellow students more than once. Unexpectedly, my distant relative Alexander Susin turned out to be in my group, with whom I had not been acquainted before, this was even more striking: how choosing the right Academy can give you the opportunity to meet not only amazing professionals, but even a part of my family.
Training for two years aroused great interest, revealing the non-obvious in familiar things, or vice versa, showing multiple angles of unknown entities. Of course, immersion in the learning environment at a British university during the summer electives is especially valuable. This makes it possible to examine, understand and feel the learning process from the inside. And for me, one of the important parts of any training is the library. At Kingston University, it is very large with a huge amount of interesting information. Students in Moscow from the very beginning of their studies had access to an electronic version of all educational materials and all electronic literature.
The attitude of British professors to students is emphatically demanding. Specific detailed learning goals are set, and the final work for each training module is evaluated by at least 10-12 parameters. Therefore, the result of our group of 20 diplomas with honors and 11 diplomas with fours looks great! It was real hard work!
For me, this diploma will be the third diploma with honors to the existing diplomas in IT and law. My next task is to apply the knowledge gained during training in real Russian life!
I want to express my admiration for my classmates, with whom we have passed 2 years of intensive study and achieved excellent results!
I would like to thank the teaching staff of Kingston Business School and the Presidential Academy of RANEPA, who invested their knowledge, skills and aspirations in us. I would also like to thank the Dean of the Faculty of International MBA Programs of the RANEPA ION, Ph.D. Margarita Perepelitsa for her personal contribution to our success and the organization of training.
I would like to express my gratitude to the Leaders of Russia contest, which provided an opportunity to realize a long-standing dream of business education.
It's time to set the following goals!"

Mikhail, tell me, how did you choose the MBA program? What was the underlying factor?
In principle, I did not consider the possibility of studying abroad for myself, since there was no opportunity to leave for a year to study. In fact, this narrowed my choice to two options - Skolkovo or Kingston. After studying, for me personally, such a factor as a certain "academicity" of education became decisive. The fact is that the reviews from Skolkovo in my collection personally were 50/50 and very much depended on who I had a chance to study with. And, of course, the presence of a diploma from a foreign university played a role.
Have there been any new ideas in the learning process? Was it possible to implement a new project?
I would even formulate it not as "new ideas", but as "new approaches" or "a new way of thinking". You look at many familiar situations differently and from new angles. This leads to excellent results. And the project - yes - appeared. The idea was "vital" even before the start of training, but it was perfectly "overgrown with details" in the process. Now, with the "latest assayments", the project itself has been launched into the market in the Legal IT niche.
You are already completing the Kingston EMBA program. What do you remember most of all?
Most of all, honestly - our group. We just have a great line-up. As one of the most interesting stories, perhaps, is a business simulation, when we had to lead the team to victory in the global market. By the way, I also really remember the seminar-a game about finance. Very interesting and informative.

What role has Kingston EMBA played in your career and in your life in general?
Please tell us about your position before and after the training. The education received at Kingston EMBA, of course, served as a kind of incentive for further career development. At the same time, I want to note that this happened organically. The very fact of having a diploma of basic or additional education is not a basis for the development or promotion of an employee for a modern employer. The experience of applying academic training in practice is important. The very form of obtaining additional education under the MBA program teaches a student to mobilize forces in time, set priorities correctly, deliver results on time, which is extremely important for a modern, dynamic business. Prior to the start of the training, I worked as the head of the IT project office of the Takeda pharmaceutical company, was responsible for delivering results on projects in the CIS region. Currently, my position is an IT Regional Business Partner of the CIS, in fact, I represent the interests of Takeda in the CIS region from the Information Technology division.
What new opportunities do you think are opening up for Kingston EMBA graduates?
In my opinion, additional education under the EMBA program expands the range of opportunities, for example, the spirit of entrepreneurship is greatly stimulated and in addition to a corporate career, students can find themselves in their own business. The owners of their own business receive the necessary knowledge and tools that will allow them to successfully compete in the market and enter new segments.
At the same time, the value of education increases if all the reporting works are of applied importance to the student, can be used in his company. They should not become only academic and theoretical.
In which functional areas of management did you feel yourself at a qualitatively new level, having received a Kingston EMBA education?
Of course, the main area in which I have felt the greatest progress or even breakthrough is strategic planning and strategy execution. The program gave an applied understanding of what a Strategy is, how it is formulated in measured parameters, how its execution is planned and the progress of this execution is monitored. For this, I am grateful to our star professor Robin Matthews and the Director of the EMBA program, the curator of my project Elena Dugina.
What are the most vivid impressions in your memory left by the Kingston EMBA program?
For me personally, one of the strongest and most memorable feelings will remain the feeling of freedom after uploading the final version of the dissertation to the electronic work evaluation system!
But the most striking event during my training was the birth of my daughter. A large number of assayments were written after she fell asleep, a lot of audio recordings of lectures were listened to on walks with her! :)

What role has Kingston MBA played in your career and in your life in general?
Undoubtedly positive. Classics in the terminology of phenomena in business, the correct designation of problem areas, the tools used for analysis and decision-making are all weapons for a manager of any rank. I learned a lot for myself in the formation of the company's strategy, in the monitoring of risks for the execution of planned plans, in the dynamics of time and events (enniogram with an updated number 9). It was very interesting to find out how to correctly determine the categories of managers and the criticality of the selection of a specific type to the real need that has come at the enterprise.
What new opportunities are opening up for Kingston MBA graduates?
I think they are very good. The Kigston University Business School is accredited by the UK government under a special program aimed at graduating students with skills to solve problems related to crisis management (crises in resources and opportunities). Practically speaking, the study is based on real examples and relevant business problems that have arisen today. Successful completion of this particular business school is a ticket to any enterprise where there is a need to resuscitate its vital functions not only to stay afloat, but also to gain the right pace in the right direction.
In which functional areas of management did you feel yourself at a qualitatively new level, having received a Kingston MBA?
Undoubtedly, in finance, economics and accounting. By education, I am a mining engineer for drilling oil and gas wells, therefore, before entering business school, I had mainly knowledge and experience in technical aspects of my specialty. Graduating from Kingston Business School made it possible to understand commercial interests in doing business as a necessary resource not only for the immediate implementation of the production process, but also to ensure its survivability in the future. It turns out that everything can be sorted out, although even roughly, and this makes it possible to feel the whole mechanism that you have in your hands, quite palpably, to control it. That's what gives you pleasure.
What are the most vivid impressions left in your memory by the Kingston MBA program?
Communication with the teachers of the program. All of them, in fact, are vivid examples for all of us in how to correctly interpret and respond to the phenomena in our lives. In their desire to convey to us the basics of their subject, they often convey a piece of both their experience and themselves, and this inexplicably surprisingly sinks into the soul and remains in memory for a long time. I am very grateful to all of them, and especially to Robin, it is rare to meet such a teacher who loves his subject and his students so much.
Get a real English business education... firsthand - from British teachers..."
Recently, I was asked to fill out a questionnaire and answer a number of questions about studying at Kingston University - and it turned out to be extremely difficult. The fact is that, answering the question: "what did studying for the Kingston MBA program give you", it was necessary to choose only one of the points: "knowledge, business connections, a solid diploma, an increase in income," and a few more... – and I would choose everything at the same time!
Indeed, if you think about what the MBA gives and try to answer briefly, then I would probably say that this is a kind of push to move on - but not just a push, but with a clear vector of understanding exactly where you want and can move. For me, this process of understanding where I am now, whether I am doing what I am doing right, what I am really capable of, what knowledge or skills I lack and what I want to achieve has probably become the most important result of my studies. This does not mean that the actual study was unimportant - the teaching process in Kingston is organized at more than a high level. During regular two–week sessions, we were given so much information – without water, concisely, only in the subject – realizing that over time it was very difficult for us - that its processing and assimilation took all the time until the next session, and often longer. And so that it was not just a theory or "book science" - we needed, on the basis of the studied material, to immediately write an essay on a given or free topic on each subject - and it was allowed and welcomed if we wrote not about fictional problems, but about our real activities, about something completely practical, and found solutions for their "live" business problems using the studied theoretical models and concepts already in the process of studying. And during the group sessions at the sessions, we repeatedly took any burning problem of one of us, sorted it all together and tried to find a solution - because each of us has his own accumulated experience, his own vision of the problem and his own know–how in business and management... Moreover, the most interesting and extraordinary ideas could be put forward by one of the fellow students working in a completely unrelated field of activity or by the teacher himself. This method of consolidating the material with the help of immediate practical application of the acquired knowledge conceptually distinguishes the learning process in Kingston. Where else in Russia will you get a real English business education, as they say, "with home delivery" :-), firsthand - from British teachers (many of whom, by the way, besides the fact that they themselves have very serious practical business experience, are the authors of a lot of scientific papers and even the textbooks we studied from...) For busy people who want to get a solid education on the job, this is just a unique option! Moreover, the knowledge gained can be immediately applied and tested in practice…
Studying for an MBA in this format is also extremely useful from the point of view of time management and self-organization – after all, you have to combine current work, study, extracurricular work, writing essays and dissertations, and much more – at first it seemed extremely difficult and sometimes impossible – but then you get used to such a rhythm, and by the end of training, my fellow students and I still had time to attend various additional classes and master classes (of which there were plenty in the ANH!) or just meet with colleagues at school after classes or on weekends… And here, of course, I would like to note another very important plus – these are the people with whom I was brought together by studying for a Kingston MBA! It would be worth enrolling and studying even just to get to know so many smart, talented and interesting people – both fellow students and teachers, with whom we remained good friends after graduation, maintain relationships and regularly find time for meetings…
As for my career, I changed my job a few months after the end of the program (and many of my fellow students did it already in the process of studying!), currently I run the Russian representative office of a well–known international company and I do not stop periodically receiving offers from other, very interesting employers. I am very grateful to fate and do not regret at all that one day I found the strength and decided to enroll in the Kingston MBA program at RANEPA. Thanks to all those who helped me make this decision and successfully complete this course!

The winners and finalists of the "Leaders of Russia" competition of three streams study at the Kingston/RANEPA Business School programs. Many of them have had significant changes in their lives and careers during their studies at the programs. The victories and successes of our students and graduates are a matter of special pride for the business school.
Over the past few years, the Russian Railways company has changed significantly. As once no one believed that it was possible to change the largest bank of Russia, but this is the transformation of the leading logistics company of the largest country in the world. Nevertheless, the process is underway, the changes are obvious, and the most impressive results are yet to come.
As a business school, we are interested in how the content of the EMBA program meets the ambitious modern tasks of companies implementing large-scale changes. This is our conversation with Vyacheslav Dmitriev.
"Innovation and Entrepreneurship" is now one of the main topics of study at the EMBA programs. The ability to change is the basis for maintaining the competitive advantage of companies. How is the search for innovative solutions implemented in Russian Railways?
V.D.: Russian Railways supports the concept of "open innovation", the implementation of which began in 2018, when at a meeting of the Board of JSC "Russian Railways" it was decided to create 5 regional innovation platforms. The algorithm of interaction with participants is extremely simple and clear. Areas in which solutions are being searched and tested: end-to-end digital technologies for rolling stock and infrastructure, intelligent video surveillance systems with analytics functions, online diagnostic systems (monitoring and monitoring) of railway infrastructure, rolling stock, systems for high-precision tracking of the location of workers in the open space. As an example of the application of innovative technologies, we can cite the testing of additive technologies, in other words, 3D printing. Rapid prototyping using 3D printing technology in a place where there is a need to reproduce parts is a new effective opportunity to reduce operating costs and develop engineering, as well as quickly develop prototypes of devices and mechanisms for a specific target task.
Recently, the course “Digital Transformation of Business” has been included in the mandatory EMBA program. How much is this topic in demand in Russian Railways, and how is it consonant with current tasks?
V.D.: Russian Railways is talking about digitalization at all levels, the company expects a serious increase in efficiency from the introduction of digital solutions. Let me remind you that the Russian Railways company was one of the first to start creating digital doubles, initially on the basis of the Kinel marshalling yard. The digital twin is a software analogue of the station that simulates the process of its operation, which allows you to objectively assess the options for the development of the current situation, their impact on operational performance and risks of disruption of the technological process, as well as the automatic formation of a train departure plan with a garter of locomotives and crews.
An important feature of the station's digital twin is that in order to set input effects on it, it is necessary to use information from sensors (scanners, readers) installed on real devices and objects – which implies a full-scale deployment of the industrial Internet of Things.
Further development of digital technologies in Russian Railways involves the phased implementation of design solutions – from small to large, that is, at the initial stage, software development and creation of a robotic digital railway junction, then a digital model of the road transportation process and, finally, a polygon consisting of several roads.
The international module in London -2019 was dedicated to the topic of sustainable development and "green" technologies. During the business visits, the participants studied the practices that they implement in international companies. What is Russian Railways doing in terms of implementing environmental solutions?
V.D.: Russian Railways is an undoubted leader in this field. I will give just a few examples of our environmental projects in the immediate vicinity of the former Syzran locomotive depot there is a residential area where, due to the release of oil–contaminated groundwater to the surface, the Kuibyshev Railway in 2011 - 2012 carried out work to clean up contaminated areas, and annually implemented measures aimed at maintaining a stable environmental situation and preventing possible risks of environmental pollution. Russian Railways approaches the solution of environmental problems comprehensively: funds are invested in the installation of outdoor wastewater collection networks, technical re-equipment of facilities and the construction of new ones. So, in the Vinnaya Grove Park, where soil pollution has a historical character, in order to eliminate the risks of additional pollution of the territory, it was decided to implement 3 investment environmental projects.
It can be said that Russian Railways, including the Kuibyshev Railway, conducts purposeful and systematic work in order to improve the environmental safety of railway transport facilities.
The result of studying at the EMBA program is an individual diploma project. The best projects are those that are accepted by the company for implementation. Vyacheslav, tell us what your graduation project is about?
V.D.: My graduation project is dedicated to the development of the concept of a "Digital Railway Hub". Every day millions of passengers travel using various modes of transport, which compete with each other, fight for the passenger. Each industry has its own statistics, development strategy, but does not have a general picture of passenger movement and cannot assess the need, as a result, the passenger is forced to adapt to the existing transport infrastructure, and not vice versa.
At Russian Railways, we understand that the rapid digital transformation creates new technical opportunities for the transition to a more profitable instrument of market coordination - cooperation based on digital technologies in order to combine efforts and network interaction. An example of such a symbiosis of several modes of transport are transport interchange hubs. In my graduation project, I am testing the concept and approaches of creating a digital railway hub, when on the basis of a common information field we can build a single digital transport network, develop a common strategy for the development of passenger transport.
Vyacheslav, thank you so much for a meaningful and interesting conversation! May the road that you have chosen and the opportunities that have opened up in front of you lead you to success!

I graduated from the program in 2003, but even now very often I not only remember the years of study with pleasure, but also periodically look into my notes in order to refresh a particular concept.
I am engaged in highway-ring motorcycle racing, and one of the basic rules of cornering is as follows: even before entering a turn, you need to direct your gaze in the direction of exiting it. But at the same time, with peripheral vision to see everything that is happening around. It seems to me that this rule is very important in relation to business, and this is what we were taught in the program – strategic vision, leadership qualities, focus on success, while giving knowledge in all areas of business.
I am very grateful to the entire team of the program, and I envy a little those who still have to go through this difficult path – the path of the MBA.

Studying under the Kingston MBA program can be compared to traveling to an exotic country where you are constantly faced with unforeseen circumstances. A quick analysis of the situation, the development of a strategy for further actions and the adoption of informed decisions become key to survival. Impeccable guides – Kingston University teachers are always ready to help, and the inexhaustible support of classmates and the curiosity of the discoverer give strength to pass this test to the end. After two years, each of us has changed dramatically. And the main acquisition is the knowledge of oneself, one's goals and the development of tools that help to implement any tasks set. By the way, the training costs paid off in less than a year.
Thank you so much for the opportunity and an unforgettable experience!

Life often presents a choice — someone earlier, someone later. Sometimes, in order to move on, you need to completely change something in yourself. I decided to start with a profession and left financial journalism for the field of Public Relations.
The decision to start all over again was difficult, but studying at the Kingston MBA program helped me a lot – there was simply no time to philosophize on the topic "whether I did the right thing or not."
Kingston is a classic British business education with a huge number of cases, analytics and hard hard work – sometimes all night long. Each of the disciplines taught is a professionally presented theoretical course, as well as invaluable practical experience of the faculty and business representatives. As for the graduation project, I have successfully put everything into practice in my work. Now I can share it with colleagues on the shop floor as an instruction for use!
The training program has fully justified itself and my expectations. I would especially like to note the highest level of professionalism of the teachers. In two years I have grown a lot both morally and professionally. Today, thanks to the experience I gained in Kingston, I hold the position of head of the press service of the Moscow Credit Bank and am responsible for the reputation of one of the largest banks in Russia.

What new opportunities do you think are opening up for graduates Kingston MBA?
Based on my own experience, I can say that most managers/specialists who decide to get an MBA degree are primarily looking for opportunities for professional self-realization. As a rule, MBA students are already quite successful and in-demand managers, but internal motivation and self-requirements do not allow them to stop and calm down on what they have achieved. Such people are looking for new opportunities for themselves, trying to discover and conquer new professional peaks. The Kingston MBA program gives its graduates not only modern universal managerial and specialized knowledge/skills, but also unique opportunities to realize professional aspirations thanks to access to the largest network of professional contacts at the highest level in the Russian Federation (networking), as well as brand awareness of the Kingston/RANEPA program. The Kingston MBA program is in the top of foreign business schools in the Russian Federation, is listed in the world's leading business education rankings, and graduates of the Kingston/RANEPA joint program are many successful and well-known Managers and officials in our country (Alexey Komissarov, Peter Fradkov). An MBA degree from such a business school as Kingston, known primarily for the achievements of its graduates, is a missing puzzle in the professional development of ambitious and talented managers/ specialists, filling which allows you to give the right verctor to your career, acquire the missing knowledge in related fields (which becomes most relevant when promoting to managerial positions), and opens up new ones opportunities for professional self-realization.
In which functional areas of management did you feel yourself at a qualitatively new level, having received an education Kingston MBA?
First of all, it is the strategy and management of strategic processes of companies in any field of economic activity. Whether it is a manufacturing company, a state-owned non-profit structure or banking, Kingston offers its students a set of the latest universal models and approaches (templates and concepts) that allow analyzing the company's activities and prospects, diagnosing problems, developing optimal solutions and, equally importantly, effective tactics for implementing these solutions. It should be noted that Kingston is one of the few international schools offering its students such a subject as Strategy Execution and Implementation, in addition to the traditional subject of Strategic Decision making (or simply Strategy) for most business schools. Thanks to the knowledge gained, Kingston graduates become capable of a comprehensive analysis of the company's activities, identifying real and imaginary strategic priorities and effectively applying management approaches aimed at correcting and improving the tactics of implementing the strategic development plan. It is clear that such abilities allow you to speak the same language with Management, distinguish Kingston graduates from other employees and thereby contribute to successful promotion.
Another functional area of management where a successful MBA education is an integral part of a career is marketing. The company's marketing strategy, whether it is product or market development, market penetration or diversification, requires special knowledge in this field and Kingston is ready to provide its students with the latest international concepts specific not only for the field of traditional sales, but also for the growing e-commerce. Kingston offers its students an exciting method of presenting material, as a result of which the study and understanding of the concepts of the subject becomes accessible to specialists and managers engaged in other business fields (for example, finance and banking), increasing their cost in the labor market and opening up new opportunities in career development. For me, as a financier, the Kingston MBA Program allowed me to expand my professional knowledge in the field of corporate finance, company value management and M&A strategy. The acquired knowledge allowed me to re-evaluate the vector of my career development, to focus on interesting and promising areas of activity related to investment banking products. Together with the accumulated professional experience, the MBA program has contributed to increasing my demand in the labor market and opened up new opportunities for me, which I hope will be able to realize.
What are the most vivid impressions left in your memory by the Kingston MBA program?
During their studies, a lot of impressions appear and often Kingston graduates fail to compensate for the lack of new impressions at the end of the program. The culmination of all the impressions received during my studies is, of course, International Week in London, as well as the Graduation Party (smoothly turning into the morning). But we graduates also miss sessions, working together on business cases, business school and each other. Even after graduation, we live with the feeling of a big family, communicate, share experiences, support each other. Probably the English word networking, which is typical in the use of international business schools as one of the main motives for obtaining a business education, is best translated for a Russian person/student as a community of friends. The uniqueness of the experience is that friendship arises at a fairly mature age, between people with different interests, and often different ages, nationalities and cultural codes. The establishment of the Kingston Alumni Community in 2017 is a long-awaited embodiment of the wishes of many graduates of the program and a natural reflection of our belonging to this friendly student family. In this sense, as they say in some other professions, there are no former Kingston/RANEPA graduates!
Studying at the Kingston University London MBA program together with RANEPA gave me a lot both in professional and personal development. For me, this was not my first business education, I had previously studied at other RANEPA programs, but it was Kingston with a truly international program. This was the area where I saw the main opportunities for my development – after all, my entire professional activity and career were connected with international business and large Western corporations.
Already in the first year of training, I managed to significantly expand my area of responsibility in the company, move to a leadership position, get the opportunity not only to work in the field of business development, but also to implement several projects on the strategic assessment of new areas with which the company was just starting to work in Russia. This resulted in the preparation of full-fledged long-term strategic plans with a horizon of 5 years or more, the choice of business models for presence in fundamentally new markets for the company, determining the necessary resources and growth potential. Thanks to a serious set of fundamental tools for analyzing the business environment and strategic planning, which were taught at the Kingston MBA program, this task became not only a challenge for me, but also an interesting way to put new knowledge into practice. Moreover, the specifics of teaching at Kingston are based on a balanced presentation of theory and practice, examples of strategies of real companies and the results obtained, the study of real situations in different markets and in different geographical regions.
Separately, it is worth noting the block of operational, financial and analytical disciplines in the program. This is a very difficult part of the program, but the effort spent on studying and completing tasks has paid off handsomely. Such knowledge allowed me to better understand all aspects of my organization's activities, its business processes, and give an understanding of their strategic role in the development of the company as a whole. Taking into account the fact that I previously specialized in the areas of sales, marketing and promotion, this new knowledge perfectly balanced my professional portfolio of knowledge, allowed me to reach a new level of business management.
Specifically, they allowed me, immediately after the end of the program, to implement a large-scale project to transform the business model in my main direction, optimize the global supply chain of products, increase its economic efficiency, and direct the released gross profit to increase the competitiveness of the business and its attractiveness to business partners. Now we can safely talk about the success of this approach. And it is especially valuable for me that such a model was implemented for the first time within the framework of business not only in Russia, but also globally in the company. Without the knowledge in finance, operational management and business modeling acquired at Kingston MBA, it would not be easy to implement this project.
In terms of personal development, Kingston has given invaluable experience in teamwork, using his time in the best possible way and successfully balancing the quality of tasks with their deadlines to maximize efficiency. Our group has become one of the most cohesive, we have learned to use the strengths of each of us and compensate for the weaknesses. This experience is very valuable in real business, where you have to work in different teams and on tasks of a different nature. In addition, the Kingston University MBA diploma and practical knowledge of the program allowed me to compete in my career not only for positions in Russia, but also in the international labor market, which is now confirmed not only by the desire to develop in this direction, but also by specific projects, plans and feedback both within the company and from external professional contacts.

I remember on the first day of our studies at the MBA program in October 2018, Margarita Perepelitsa greeted us with the words: "Welcome to the Kingston family!". At first I wondered what it meant. A serious program, in a serious educational institution, in the center of the capital of Russia, and here the conversation is not about a society of professionals, world-class managers, but about a family. Later, with each lived (lived, not passed) module, I realized for myself that we are gradually turning into a family. We can fight with each other, but let someone from the outside try to offend. We selflessly helped each other in every way we could, supported each other in every way, shared our secrets, made plans. Therefore, for me, the most important thing I learned from this program is my new family – the Kingston family.
In general, when applying for an MBA program at Kingston, I was guided by the opportunity to get 2 diplomas at once, one of which is British, as well as a convenient location of the program. Of course, I read the reviews and studied the ratings, calculated the ROI and finally chose an MBA from RANEPA and Kingston. I admit, it was much harder to study than it seemed at the beginning, but the more valuable for me the knowledge gained. Now I don't believe people in the office who say that they have a lot of work and they don't have time for something. We, MBA graduates, have already developed a very good ability to solve problems quickly, process a huge amount of information, set priorities, draw conclusions and sometimes sleep little, which helps us all to be much more effective than others now. We have time for everything!
And yes, about the mind-blowing summer modules in London...But no, it's only for their own. Whoever was there will understand.

The MBA from Kingston/RANEPA is that rare case when there is not a single gram of doubt about the choice of the program, when you appreciate every minute spent in class and working on essays, and regret that 2 years have flown by so quickly and imperceptibly. When you live from module to module, you miss your classmates, with a sinking heart you click on submit assignment an hour before the deadline with a sense of pride for another victory over yourself and satisfaction from the work done.
An MBA from Kingston/RANEPA is a catalyst for my managerial skills. Together with the invaluable experience of interaction and competition, constant challenges to intelligence and self-organization came the realization and application of the qualities of a coordinator and a team leader, understanding the meaning and tasks of managerial work, increasing professional and personal confidence and value, expanding the professional horizon.
Here I met friends and mentors, whose relationships I cherish, and I feel not only mutual sympathy, but also a huge potential for cooperation.

You can cite a large number of advantages of the Kingston MBA program, but one of the main ones for me personally was the atmosphere. All students and teachers are very different people by age, nationality, and experience, but from the first minute until now, even after graduation, we have all been and remain charged with some kind of molecule of cordiality, mutual respect, a desire to discover something new together, even after graduation. build a business together.
I am very glad that I chose this program and, of course, I want to recommend it to you. These difficult but incredibly interesting two years are worth all the effort. And the presentation of such a diploma dear to the heart at the British Embassy gives every graduate every right to be proud of himself. Good luck!
I really enjoyed each module that are delivered by teachers with very diversified background and very good or native English speaking of course. These are opportunities that you don't have everyday, to interact with so many different but intelligent minds. They are smart but interesting people, many of whom can become lifelong friends.
Another intriguing part is to have chance to meet many classmates, with very interesting and knowledgeable brains. We team up on one common project and contribute in own way, that's really a very beneficial time
Kingston University has an amazing ability to attract people who can influence the future of everyone who finds themselves inside this system. The most important thing is to realize that 2 courses can become whatever you want, and the mutual desire of everyone to enrich each other's experience during their studies can create the magic that ultimately allows the whole system to win: each participant, the university, even the companies whose employees were on this program (future and current). It's nice to know that I was lucky to study in a group where everyone immediately understood this and received a diploma with honors as a result.
The main thing that the MBA at Kingston taught me is not a technical understanding of each discipline individually (although there are many discoveries waiting for you at every step), but the ability to see an idea as a system as a whole and sources of insights, how an idea can materialize into life.
In 2018, Kingston University (London) and the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration opened enrollment for a special MBA program, where the first finalists and winners of the Leaders of Russia competition were invited. Of course, outstanding success was expected from this graduation, but even the wildest expectations faded before the result – 27 group members (75%) graduated from the program with the highest academic result of Distinction, setting an absolute record of academic performance for all the years of the program's existence!
It's not surprising, you say, since the group is entirely made up of Russian Leaders who, even during the competition, many times proved a high level of erudition, excellent memory, the ability to learn and produce maximum results, individually or in a group. You are only partly right, because there were only 10 finalists and winners of the LR in the final composition of the group. And it was still a group of real leaders. Leaders are not only those who successfully took part in the competition on time. These are, first of all, people whose work creates the necessary changes in our country, whose example inspires others.
Our group was a reflection of all the best that exists in Russia: geography from St. Petersburg to Sakhalin, industry affiliation from IT to the oil industry, experience from managing the richest regions to launching their own startups and small businesses. And at the same time – surprisingly no show-offs, openness, sociability, constant willingness to joke, try new things, change and help others change. Ministers, managers of state monopolies, entrepreneurs, doctors and scientists – yes, we studied well, but it is much more important that we were great friends – and I am sure that we will continue to be friends. Red diplomas are familiar to us, but smart and creative friends are always a rarity.
Thank you, Kingston and RANEPA, Margarita and Mitali, our teachers and guests – it's been a wonderful two years. They didn't just improve us – they changed us, opened up new levels and paths in life. And now, having changed positions, industries and cities, we look at each other again and understand how much important and wonderful has happened during this time. And we ourselves, together with the universities, were the creators of these miracles. After all, we are leaders, with or without a diploma of the competition – leaders not by certificate, but by life.

I, as an average "corporate", decided to get an MBA degree, having in mind a simple end result based on the results of training – promotion. Of course, there were also dreams, like, to move to a large company abroad, where all of us are "smeared with honey". With this I came to the program.
To begin with, we were promised that in the course of training, or at least at the end of the program, our worldview would change and I, like all the other "established personalities", reacted to this, to put it mildly, with skepticism. It turned out, in vain. The atmosphere in which the training takes place cannot but affect you. In a good way, of course. For two years you have been living in constant contact with the smartest, "pumped" knowledge and experience people, including the best teachers, practitioners, top managers of companies and owners of their own businesses. All these people literally change your attitude to work and life, because you see real examples of success not in the ubiquitous articles "on improving your own efficiency", but right in front of you. And all these people have nothing to share, they are not competitors to each other in life outside the university (well, it seemed to me so), thanks to which an open and friendly atmosphere reigns in the program, facilitating the exchange of ideas, experience and knowledge. To this, add modules on which you will have to move your "muddled" brain, look at the problem and its solution from a new angle, as well as generate and calculate new ideas. All this together gives a powerful impetus to the revision of its present and future.
So, by the end of the first year of study, the vector of my development began to shift towards my own business, which eventually led to the opening of a small, but already successful company. I am glad that among my fellow students there were the same examples, we began to successfully combine the roles of corporate managers and business owners, and this, of course, is the merit of the RANEPA/Kingston MBA program. Well-being to her and prosperity, thank you for the priceless two years!
I studied under a joint MBA program organized by Kingston University and RANEPA in 2018-2020. The program is built in the best traditions of British business education and places very high demands on students.
The program includes 10 modules in the disciplines of MBA preparation. Each module provides theoretical material, but most of the time is devoted to practical work. The full-time part of the training includes a huge variety of collective and individual tasks, the format of which is practically not repeated. We went through two business simulations: decision-making and strategy. Both games were finely thought out, allowed you to test yourself in situations close to real life, and get to know yourself from a new side. Debates were organized for us, where we defended positions on various topical issues. During the operational management module, we went outside and studied how the principles outlined in textbooks work in real life. We developed marketing strategies and presented them to the commission of experts. During each module, at the invitation of RANEPA, representatives of real business came to us, told us about their experience and showed by their own example what opportunities were opening up for us, and how much needed to be done to realize these opportunities.
After completing each module, it was necessary to prepare a written work in English on a given topic. To do this, the university has provided irreplaceable tools: an online learning system and access to an electronic library. During the work on the tasks, we managed to study a huge amount of materials, completely rebuild our style of working with information and learn how to solve business problems using technologies and methods proposed within the framework of the program. The tasks themselves have never been simple, and looking back, I see how logically this path was built, how each stage prepared us for the next step and at the same time helped us develop specific practical skills that are in demand in each of the areas of management activity.
The internship at the London campus of Kingston University allowed you to really feel your presence in the international environment. We spent these two weeks in a place with listeners of similar programs from the UK, Canada, Latin America and other countries. One of the most vivid impressions was a business simulation in which we represented our regions at the UN level and jointly solved a global problem. I saw that the knowledge and skills I gained during my studies are a universal language that is understandable to people from different countries. Using the tools from the MBA arsenal, we were able to successfully find common solutions to our problems and did it effectively.
The completion of the program was a real consulting project for a real company, in which it was necessary to find a solution to an existing problem in business. The evaluation of our results was carried out both from the point of view of the application of competencies that were built during the course of study, and from the point of view of the result for the customer company.
I think that the combination of serious theoretical training and practical experience gained during my studies make this MBA program unique in Russian business education. Everything I learned turned out to be in demand in my work immediately.
I am very grateful to the amazing team of Kingston University and RANEPA, which conducts the MBA program. These are unique specialists, bright personalities and professionals of the highest class. The opportunity to learn from them, to see up close how they work, is a great success.

Program: Kingston CIPD IHRM
Thinking about business education, I would start with what it means to me. Choosing a program, I certainly focused on formal signs – ratings, status, reputation of the educational institution, saturation of programs, practical benefits, and so on. It is also very important for me to be in the circle of talented people who believe that the horizon is limitless. People who are constantly looking for new approaches, creative solutions, expand the range of their professional tools. And, of course, it should be interesting to study. The Kingston CIPD IHRM Masters program not only met, but also, in many ways, exceeded my expectations.
I gained not only new academic knowledge, but first of all I learned how to transform this knowledge into practical solutions, propose new models and look at many work issues more broadly. At the beginning of my studies, I had some idea of my abilities and degree of education (at the start I already had three higher educations and one MBA), but more than once during my studies I was convinced that many of the knowledge I received was very superficial, since I could not connect them with real life, and, working in international companies, I was striving not so much to understand the theoretical foundations of best practices, as to their practical development.
There was a lot of teamwork in the process of studying. This is a very valuable experience: the heterogeneity of contexts and opinions allows you to look at the same question differently, you need not only to choose the best solution, but also to agree with colleagues on the study bench. I was deeply impressed not only by the level of teachers, but also by their attitude to the learning process. During my studies, I have never had the impression that I hand over the work “for show”, I write something into the void. I was very inspired by an open dialogue with teachers, prompt feedback and comments not in the format of "something to fix", but "what else do I need to think about so that the work becomes more qualitative and meaningful", all the time I wanted to do "even better".
Many Western tools and practices are surprisingly transformed and transformed beyond recognition, coming to the Russian market; as a rule, this is called adaptation to our cultural characteristics, national traditions, consumer demands, and so on. The Kingston CIPD IHRM Masters program is a rare case when at the same time it was possible to preserve the authenticity of British education and sensitivity to the needs of students. Every day of my stay at RANEPA, I had the feeling that the program was being improved, and not a single request of the listeners was ignored. Time continues to be the main resource for most. I came to the program after the birth of my daughter (she was 3 months old at the time), while fully working in an actively developing company, but studying was not an additional burden for me, but, on the contrary, a very resource activity, because it was incredibly interesting!

The program perfectly systematizes the basic skills, knowledge and skills that a modern HR should possess. The classical theory is supported by the experience of both teachers and lecturers, as well as classmates from completely different areas of business. And even more... conquering mountains and HR? Art and organizational culture? Critical thinking and statistics? It won't be boring!
Studying under the Kingston IHRM Mastrers program is a full immersion in the British education system. This is an interesting two-year dialogue with teachers - leading theorists and practitioners in the field of human resource management. These are informative master classes, competitive case studies and communication with interesting people - representatives of Russian and British business. This is a trip to the UK for International Week, a visit to the office of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and leading British companies. This is a sensitive and caring attitude towards students from RANEPA and Kingston University. And it is also a wonderful opportunity to find new friends who are ready to share their experience and professional skills with you, help in difficult situations, and enjoy your professional and life successes together with you.
Many HRs, like me, have read the books by Michael Armstrong and Angela Baron “Performance Management”, and I was pleasantly surprised when I got the opportunity to choose Angela Baron as my supervisor for Management Research Report (MRR). The research I conducted under the guidance of Angela and the recommendations developed during the preparation of the MRR formed the basis of the Performance Management program that I implemented in my company.
Studying under the Kingston IHRM program is undoubtedly one of the most exciting events in my professional life.

Program: Kingston CIPD IHRM
A 2-year path: the British CIPD 7 Level qualification through the eyes of a student
Which program to choose and where to study? Level 7 (Advanced) is the maximum level at CIPD for HRD and function managers involved in strategy implementation and policy development. Learn more about the levels.
In Moscow, the only university where you can get CIPD Level 7 relatively on-the-job, RANEPA, they have a joint program with Kingston University.
Other CIPD accredited providers in Moscow offer Level 3 or 5.
Language of instruction: English without simultaneous translation, all lectures, materials, discussions only in English. The minimum required level is upper intermediate.
Training format: 5-day modules with Kingston University teachers and Russian practitioners. After each module - an essay of 2000-3000 words. To do this, you need to read academic and practical articles, reports of consulting companies, reviews, etc., which are logically measured in centimeters, not pieces (15+ literature sources from 1 to 20-25 pages). Then rethink what you read and write an essay on a given/selected topic.
The main work is management research report, which is given for almost a year - research (including theory) + proposals for implementation + assessment of the budget for implementation + assessment of benefits for business. You choose the topic yourself and you should approach it very seriously in order to get the maximum benefit. It dawned on me after graduation on what topic it was possible to do an ingenious study with correlation and regression analysis useful to business (I love statistics very much, after the module Investigating a Business Issue I started learning Python and overcame a loved one with questions about confidence intervals, revenue forecast and statistical methods in C&B work).
Why do I need a qualification? Expectations. 1. Fundamental knowledge in HR, including international practice. 2. The opportunity to work in the UK and many other countries of the world (I did not rule out moving from Russia after six months of living in Cambridge in 2014).
Why do I need a qualification? The result and application in the work. 1. Breadth, depth and business-oriented thinking - the British teach it to think / analyze, and not just to study theories, there is often a request for practical application. Topic => theory and practice => analysis and criticism => impact on business => conclusions and suggestions. Previously, I didn't have a vision for 2-3 steps forward, now I do. There were amazing business games from Russian teachers (Konstantin Orlov from Natico Solutions) and the specifics of Russian law (in the Law module). Business games are really memorable and very business-applicable. 2. Scale and consistency - I began to see any process in the system and in relation to others. About the scale: all my experience has been in companies from 100 to 1000 people with revenue of a dozen or two million rubles / year. An offer to a company with a staff of 70,000 people and revenue estimated in trillion rubles made me shudder, but I clearly understood the procedure - I learned to think from top to bottom first in theory, and then in practice. 3. Specific knowledge - some modules inspired me so that after training I continue to study on my own. Yes, you can find time for this without studying, but do we do it often in life? 4. Fundamental knowledge in HR - yes, expectations were met. 5. Pumping English - it just so happened that I did not use English in my work, there was no daily practice. Professional English is pumped automatically, any literature is read in one breath. 6. Comrades-in-arms - we just have a bomb group, but this is a nice bonus.
Necessary: 1. Readiness for complex, intensive and methodical study. Yes, an essay can be written in a week, 2-3 days for the text + a few days for studying the material, but it is nerve- and energy-consuming. It is better to organize yourself so as to devote a little time to study, but regularly. To realize - I realized, I did not have time to apply it in my studies) but I began to act like this in my work and affairs. 2. Clear understanding of goals and motivation. The question repeatedly arises: "Do I really need this?" and here is either motivation or will. 3. Understanding the return on investment - training is expensive, > 1 million rubles. In my case, the payback forecast is 18 months. When paying independently, motivation increases many times, verified)
Other: perhaps there is only one negative aspect - an opaque evaluation system. There are no clear criteria, there is a qualitative description. Sometimes, when getting a result, a dumb question arose with the so-called invested efforts and the result obtained.
I want to share my story with you as part of the flash mob "My story matters" from Avon
For each story told, the Avon Foundation will donate $1 to charities supporting women.
My story is about choice. We face a choice in our life all the time and our further movement depends on it.My choice was between investing in myself or investing in the comfort and coziness of the family.
A few years ago, after the birth of our second child, we moved into a new apartment and planned to renovate. At that time, I joined sales to have not only an idea, but also a deep understanding of the business.
But in order not to stay away from my profession, systematize experience and knowledge, and expand the circle of professional contacts, I chose to study at Kingston University, and thank you Natalia Smurova for the story about this opportunity and support in choosing! In order to fulfill this desire, it was necessary to make a choice between renovation and investment in training.
I made my choice in favor of investing in myself, and in the end it was the right one. New knowledge and opportunities helped me. During my training, I met Irina Prosviryakova and for a year now I have been happy to work in our company, in a great team and solve ambitious tasks. I have new friends - girls with whom we studied together (and believe me, it wasn't a freebie at all and brought us together very much). And this year we have also done repairs, and we had enough for everything else! My colleagues were very surprised how I manage everything: to be a mother and wife, to participate in international work projects, to keep up with my small country farm (we didn't have goats then, but there were enough worries without them) and study well.
But nothing is impossible for those who have made an informed choice!

It was cool. The first sensation is the expansion of consciousness from understanding how widely you can look at what you are dealing with every day. Smart people around. Strict rules. Definitely this challenge is worth the effort spent on it.

After my two-year training in the Program, I can recommend it with 200% confidence to those HR managers who are thinking about obtaining fundamental knowledge. Studying at this Program helped me not only to get acquainted with various theories, research, but also taught me to consider the need to apply certain approaches to a particular case from the point of view of critical analysis.
Over these two years, I have discovered a storehouse of new sources of the most relevant knowledge provided by Kingston University, the CIPD Association, as well as incredibly useful and inspiring communication with my group, among which are very strong HR professionals. I hear from my colleagues that over these two years they see that I have grown very much as a professional, for me this is a great indicator of the correctness of the step that I took 2 years ago when I joined this program.
The most important thing in the IHRM CIPD program is that it gives almost limitless possibilities: - professional and career growth, - meetings with wonderful people, - establishing useful business contacts. And how you use these opportunities depends on you. Personally, she gave me 2 years of happiness, and when I remember our training, I feel a smile appear on my face.
Each module of the HRM/CAD program immerses you for 5 days in topics that are relevant at all times, such as Engagement, Organizational Learning, Strategic Leadership, Talent and Reward Management and others. At the same time, you always consider these issues from three points of view — British, Russian and international. This, perhaps, is the main uniqueness of this program in the Russian market.

2 years ago, when I was just going to study for the CIPD program, I had doubts. I thought: how can I, with my busy schedule, squeeze this into my schedule, and where will I get the energy to study, write papers, and so on. Well, time has shown that it is possible to accommodate this and much more in life. I wrote my first essay during a business trip to Siberia. I was finishing my final study in Moscow, already with a big, big belly, hardly sitting at the computer. Between these two exams, there was a new house in Moscow, and a move to Panama, and a happy acquaintance with my most beautiful Andres Alejandro Dominguez, and toxicosis (manifested exactly on the days of the essay), and a new job, and new books, and travel to various countries, and acquaintance, and friendship with new, the most wonderful people.. And by the time I received my diploma yesterday, I had already become the mother of another really wonderful person. And if we sum up some kind of result and talk about insights, then: 1) it was worth giving the opportunity to accommodate something new in life, and many more things fit into it; 2) still, the main thing is in people. Thank you, dear all!
Yesterday I passed the last assignment and I can't believe that the two-year Kingston marathon is over. More than a dozen works have been written in pure academic English. Passed the excellent Management research report! A lot of English words have been memorized that cannot be used in colloquial. Was it worth it? Yes, definitely! Despite the fact that for the last two years I almost can't remember myself without a heavy bag with articles in my hands. Despite the fact that getting up at 4 in the morning has become the norm for me. Despite the fact that at a time when people are on vacation, as a rule, they rest, I went- walked- flew- sunbathed by the sea with a computer and 5 kilograms of literature :) In Thailand, the whole beach respected me) some even started to learn English) And the daughter's pride in response to the question, what is mom doing? "Mom is writing a scientific paper." Another one! That's it, CIPD done!! Thanks to my wonderful daughter, who, sometimes, seeing my despair in her eyes, supported me and said: "We must do. You can. You'll have time for everything"! Thanks to Natalia Smurova for helping all 2 years. Thanks to Svetlana Belyaeva, Olga Voitenko and Anna Yakovleva for their help! Working for 12 hours, I just didn't have time to go to the modules, it would have been much more difficult for me without you. Thanks to all my guys from HR Sogaz, without whom MRR simply would not have taken place.
But! I dedicate the next year only to myself: I will read a couple of dozen books bought in 2 years, return to horse riding, make a trip to the Atacama desert, finally get into courses in astrophysics, I will sleep at least 7 hours a day! :)
Friends, conclusion, go ahead! Everything is on your shoulder, even if it seems that you will not be able to cope. It will definitely work!
After two years of the program, I can confidently say that the results are somewhat different from the expected ones. In addition to the expected amount of academic knowledge, which sometimes seems too large, the program managed to make serious changes in internal approaches to understanding emerging tasks and problems, collecting and analyzing the knowledge and experience of predecessors, choosing the best solution taking into account the interests of identified parties, presenting and selling these solutions, and even partially implementing them.
I have no doubt that the experience and knowledge gained are applicable in my practice and useful from the point of view of my effectiveness as a professional.
On the other hand, the experience of communicating with classmates enriched my "social capital", allowed me to acquire new acquaintances, significantly expanded the horizons of understanding the profession in the domestic environment.
CIPD Certificate — yes or no? Should I invest in my own development? I definitely recommend it to those who are targeting it. What did the CIPD training give me? In short, the ability to think over barriers in your specialty is the ability to solve almost any problem. A network of wonderful professional contacts aimed at development (these are my classmates — hello everyone). Self-improvement as a daily norm. Business-oriented thinking. She studied at Nottingham University and Kingston Business School, only Kingston is represented in Russia now.

My decision to come to the program was due to career changes. Previous experience was in narrow areas of HR, so it was necessary to fill in the gaps. The hopes were fully justified: a coherent system of all aspects of modern HR was built in my head, full confidence appeared when making a decision.
The level of teaching in the program is very high, all advanced HR technologies are here. The experience of visiting the largest international companies in London was invaluable, as well as communication with the best HR professionals in Moscow, their successful experience can immediately be safely applied in their activities.
In addition to the knowledge gained, the program can boast of its participants, whose knowledge and experience are undoubtedly of great value.
In general, the program left an unforgettable impression. After its completion, you move to a higher level, acquire the so-called helicopter view and the mandatory critical thinking that runs through the entire program.
I came to the program when I was 50 years old. What I got from the program: systematization of their knowledge, drive and new knowledge. I understood the level of my knowledge and applied new things in my favorite work. I studied HR analytics, and realized that you can't say anything just like that without supporting sources.

I spent quite a long time choosing where to go to study. I have requested an HR MBA program at several universities. When I analyzed it, I realized that the entire first academic year consists of the subjects of the Presidential Retraining Program, which I completed at St. Petersburg State University at the Faculty of Management.
"It's okay," they told me in the educational part of one of the universities, "we will transfer the subjects to you.".. Our IHRM course changed my life so much that I not only moved up the career ladder by finding a new job, but also decided to actively develop my business.
This is not only high-quality training, but also good training: I didn't even know before what I was capable of. The program allows you to develop not only skills, but also to grow personally, since you are always in the prioritization mode, which ultimately leads to the fact that you quickly and accurately assess the amount of work, time, usefulness of some action for business, for yourself. This is about work, personal life, and study.
Go ahead! You won't regret it!

Of course, one of the most significant factors for me when studying under the program was our group – experienced and successful HR managers who have been in the profession for a long time and develop HR in successful Russian and Western companies. World-class knowledge and practices presented to us by professors Kingston University, we could discuss not only from the point of view of theory, but also share experience in their application.
The context of the entire program is the formation of business thinking and human resource management strategy not only in the context of a narrow specialization, but within the framework of influencing the achievement of the overall result of the company. During my studies, I stopped taking successful Western practices as an absolute given. Only the synthesis of advanced world approaches with Russian specifics can provide a high-quality and long-term result. The formation of new thinking is the result of these two years. Thanks.

Undoubtedly, I recommend the program for those who want to develop as a professional in HR. What does the program give? Three things, the first, the program significantly enhances knowledge and skills – English, HR systems, methods of analysis and research, communication (written and oral), the second, the program changes the worldview, and the third, the program gives the opportunity to get acquainted with a huge number of wonderful and talented people – fellow students, teachers, foreign colleagues, CIPD employees and many others.
Working not for the first year in the profession, it is difficult not to get tired and burn out, especially if there are a lot of routine tasks, and there is less room for creativity than we would like. The desire to study further appeared not because of a lack of knowledge, but for the sake of the opportunity to think in a new way, to look for solutions and answers to non-standard questions. I chose the Kingston CIPD IHRM Masters program because, despite the seriousness of the academic base, it does not involve providing students with correct answers - they need to be found independently. The choice turned out to be correct. The program had everything: defining and formulating tasks, working with internal clients, the ability to ask the right questions and analyze various data, current methods, theory and best practices – these were only the most important things for me, but I am sure that each of us made our own conclusions.
A special place in the learning process is occupied by communication with a group and teamwork on business cases with people who are interested and who care. I was lucky to study with real professionals from different businesses, with different experiences and – most importantly – with different views on the same issue, but with the same thirst for knowledge.

I think that the most valuable thing in the Kingston CIPD IHRM Masters program is that you have a specially allocated and well–organized time to really understand the subject. This is also facilitated by access to the Kingston electronic library, which always has both relevant study materials and interesting ideas for work.
At the same time, you really begin to apply theory in practice – you look at some tool at a lecture or in a textbook, and suddenly you understand how to use it to solve this or that task at work. You come to class and start discussing your ideas with colleagues, and immediately get feedback and a fresh look at the problem. And then you run to work and create with pleasure!

I am often asked if studying is worth this huge investment: time, money, energy, missed vacations and unfinished books? And what, in your opinion, is the price of true friendship, creativity and freedom to do what you love?
It seems to me that we bought happiness at cost price, returned to student life with a big discount, we learned the most important things in life externally: to appreciate, to thank, to get carried away, to take risks. And for the change, we got new interesting projects, promotions, positions on business cards and other pleasant trifles.
Tatiana Malinina
HR Manager "Baltics + Japan Tobacco International"
HR Manager "Baltics + Japan Tobacco International"
Program: Kingston CIPD IHRM
To tell you about myself in a few words, my name is Tatiana Malinina, I am a graduate of the Master's program at Kingston University, currently I am responsible for all issues in the field of personnel management at Japan Tobacco International in countries such as Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark, Iceland and Finland based in Vilnius.
If I am asked what it takes to build an international career, I would highlight a few main points.
Of course, the number one point is knowledge of a foreign language, at least one, and relevant work experience. I studied English and Spanish at university, but for a very long time I lacked practice, so I was looking for any opportunity to practice my English. As for experience, the broader your horizons in the field of personnel management, the higher the level of knowledge about the best practices in the field of business management and a better understanding of the basics of the functioning of the organization, the better. Before moving to Vilnius, I worked mainly as a Business partner for various departments of the company, and also devoted a long time to building the employer's brand.
Point number 2 is readiness to move and mobility. It is often much easier to declare your mobility than to actually go somewhere if an offer suddenly arises. If mobility is not complete, you need to clearly understand which countries you are really ready to go to, so as not to create false expectations from your employer. I once had a very unpleasant situation when, declaring full mobility, I refused to relocate to the Dominican Republic, realizing that I was not ready to change my location so radically. It is advisable to discuss this issue with your family members, who are often the main obstacle to moving. I am very grateful to my husband for his courage and penchant for adventures, who went with me to meet new opportunities in Lithuania.
Third, it is very desirable to get an international diploma, since in many countries your employer will be asked to prove to the employment service that you are better than local candidates. When I came to the first class at RANEPA for the CIPD Master's program, I found out that I was pregnant. I am very glad that I managed to combine motherhood and graduation without giving up halfway, because later the diploma helped me a lot. Before obtaining a work permit, the special attestation Council of the Lithuanian Employment Service demanded to prove compliance with the declared qualifications and provide a diploma with grades. The diplomas of RANEPA and Kingston were accepted with pleasure.
Fourth, it is necessary to be prepared for challenges and difficulties in a new place, ranging from everyday difficulties and ending with various unpredictable situations at work.
After moving to another country, you will need to start many things that seemed simple and familiar from scratch. Where to get a Russian-language kindergarten for a child, which clinic is better to go to, how to understand what is written on the food packages in the store?
From the point of view of work, my most important challenge was connected with the abundance of cultures surrounding me, as well as the flow of information that suddenly hit me: 6 countries, a large number of different nationalities with their own temperament and habits, 6 different labor laws. To the question of how to calculate the vacation balance for me, there are 6 correct answers (7 together with the Russian practice).
And, of course, you need a little luck, which I wish everyone, regardless of whether you want relocation or not.
Study, dream, move forward - and everything will work out!

"Study, study and study again!". Education is certainly a very important thing, especially if your goal is to achieve career heights. But what else besides knowledge, a prestigious British Masters diploma from Kingston University London and a diploma from RANEPA (both diplomas allow me to work in any company around the world) and career development gave me two years of study. In order to answer this question, I had to look deep into myself, and maybe even admit something to myself.
Change yourself, but not change yourself
Studying at Kingston University London helped me to look at myself from the outside.
You come to school and realize that your experience, achievements and reputation are not important to teachers. You, as a first-grader, start with a clean slate. You learn to write notes on your own, instead of habitually asking for Minutes of Meeting from your assistant. You learn to interact on an equal footing, and not from the position of a leader. It may seem trivial, but after many years in leadership positions, it is not so easy to change the usual patterns of behavior.
Combining work with study is extremely difficult. At the same time, it is necessary to exist not in two familiar dimensions - home and work, but already in three. You need to be able to switch on and off. It doesn't matter that you don't have time and the phone is bursting with calls, you need to quickly learn how to be "here and now" and concentrate as much as possible on studying.
I always considered myself not stupid — and it was hard to admit that there could be smarter and faster people around. I have always had experience in the profession on my side — and it was not easy to admit that people younger and with less experience can do this or that job better and more creatively. My studies have taught me to understand and accept this fact. Do not give up, but try to constantly develop, learn from others, but at the same time go your own way and not compare yourself with anyone.
Learn to learn
Perhaps the most difficult thing was to adjust to the mode of independent work. Our classes were held according to the schedule: as a rule, on weekends, including Friday and Monday. At first glance, it seemed that there should be enough free time and the study itself would not take much time, but in fact, the volume of home reading and the number of written works were such that it was not particularly possible to relax. At the same time, I read from six to fifteen textbooks, and a folder with printouts (scientific and journal articles mixed with lectures) could swat not only a cockroach, but also someone more substantial.
Another important point: plagiarism in England is not forgiven, but it is very easy to determine - the wonderful computer program Turnitin once and for all kills the desire to copy a couple of paragraphs of someone else's work, whether it is an abstract, an article from a newspaper or a neighbor's work. We have to think independently, which again does not work for everyone and not immediately.
But it is not enough just to work out the topic in theory, it is necessary to be able to apply the knowledge gained in the workplace. Then and only then is the sense and the result of the study visible. That is why we were so often asked not to come up with some kind of situation, but to give an example from real practice, to try out this or that skill on ourselves and our employees. The study and accommodation of such Business Cases is the most valuable part of the educational process.
Kingston Alumni Community
Another valuable thing is the connections and relationships that we build during our studies. I'm sure all my colleagues will agree with this. While studying, nothing unites you like the realization that the deadlines for the completion of work are inevitably approaching, and your project is not ready yet. You write off with "classmates" — and you realize that you are not the only one. I'm all in the same boat. In the same boat with each other and with the teachers who are going through this difficult path of change with us, for which I would like to express my special gratitude to them. But even after studying, we all stay in touch, monitor each other's achievements and help if necessary.
What I would like to say in conclusion: looking back, knowing how much effort and time my studies took, being aware of what bonuses I have already received and, I am sure, I will receive again, I can say that I do not doubt for a second that deciding to get an education, I made the right choice and chose this particular school out of many others. I chose British rigor and elitism. Despite the inherent conservatism of the British, Kingston welcomes creativity and innovation in solving difficult tasks in the field of personnel management. You are turning inside out, trying to find a non-trivial solution to a common and at the same time unique business case in a language that is not native to you. That's where the convolutions, dusty template solutions, begin to move. I advise you to try it too!
Working in conditions of multitasking and limited time to complete complex business tasks, as well as the duties of a mother and wife in my personal life, I chose a program for a long time and carefully chose a program for in-depth study and structuring of the acquired practical knowledge and skills in the field of personnel management, read reviews of graduates, compared programs, cost and terms of training. I wanted to invest time and money usefully to get results in the long run.
In the end, I chose Kingston and RANEPA, and that's why. Structured presentation of the material, a lot of specific and detailed knowledge from modern HR. A lot of English. Communication with native speakers. Brilliant teaching staff from the UK and Russia, and excellent practical experience of Russian HR experts. A wonderful group of fellow students, useful feedback from colleagues in the HR industry. A lot of independent work, open and very useful online sources of the Kingston Library, there are no such analogues in Russian practice. Consideration of business cases from the practice of Russian and international business, the opportunity to practice and apply the knowledge gained in practice.
Summing up, I can say that the program had a huge impact on me and in many ways exceeded my expectations. I not only qualitatively structured my knowledge and "sharpened up" in many HR processes, but also got great pleasure from communicating with the smartest and most talented teachers and program managers. The program gave me valuable experience to develop not only my managerial and professional competencies, but also helped me balance expectations from business results and personal effectiveness, as a result, I became a more open and harmoniously developed personality.
I sincerely recommend this program to anyone who needs to further develop their professional knowledge and skills.
Most often, people think about business education when some part of their career path has already been completed and certain professional experience has been accumulated, but the desire to open up new opportunities, develop and expand internal boundaries remains. It was at this stage of my life that I began to study HR management programs presented on the market. I wanted to find the best option, if you study – so study!
After careful analysis, I chose the Kingston IHRM Masters program. The uniqueness of this program is that it was developed by the Business School of Kingston University (London) together with CIPD (the largest international professional organization in the field of training and development for HR specialists). This means that the business school course is presented simultaneously with modern HR models and solutions developed by CIPD and successfully integrated into the business. The program provides an opportunity and understanding of the application of theoretical knowledge in practice. Looking ahead, I want to say that at the beginning of the second year of study we had an International week in London. We visited and got acquainted with the structures and HR strategies of companies such as Barclays bank, John luis, etc., where we held lectures and meetings with leading employees. There was also an opportunity to conduct a comparative analysis of various HR techniques and practices and see the results of their implementation.
The training is modular and takes place in Moscow on the basis of RANCHIS under the President of Russia. Which also adds an unambiguous advantage to him, because it makes it possible to combine with the main job. As a result, we got a well-structured educational mix. Lectures were given by both teachers from the Kingston Business School and representatives of international corporations who shared their practical experience. The program director from RANCHIS invited the management and HRD of large international and Russian companies. The level and scale of the personalities of professors and professional practitioners is quite high. This makes the IHRM Masters program special, one can say unique.
Personally, the training has affected me dramatically. It completely changed my life. Having a higher musical education, but at the same time working in an investment fund, I have always experienced some discomfort and, if I may say so, internal bifurcation. "... She seemed like a stranger in her family..." And unexpectedly for myself, I found the answer to my main internal question on the IHRM program, how to combine the seemingly incompatible – music and business, in particular, personnel management. With the help of my supervisor, we chose the topic of MRR (thesis) "The influence of music on positive emotions, physical condition and quality of life of staff". Research and work on this topic led to the fact that after completing my studies and obtaining a Master of Science diploma, I decided to open a Music Connection company, whose mission is to unite people, music and business through motivational music practice, www.mus-connect.com . In collaboration with Lilith Arevshatian, PHD and Rachel Lewis, PHD from Kingston Business School, we published an article “Music as an HR resource for employee wellbeing” in the professional publication HRZone (UK), which was received with interest by the professional community in London.
Speaking of training, it is impossible not to say about the people I met. Each of my classmates is a professional in his field, a person with his own unique experience. When people who speak the same (literally and figuratively) language gather, solve business cases together, vividly discuss everything that is happening around them and often find joint solutions, then some special connection arises that is no longer limited to the framework of training. After two years of intensive work together, we have become close to each other. Even after graduating from business school, we can turn to each other and always get advice and support. It's worth a lot! And this is another very enriching part of the Kingston IHRM Masters program.
I would also like to emphasize that any serious and high-quality education requires all the effort, time and energy. You need to understand that for two years you are leaving your usual comfort zone. Your families will clearly be deprived of your attention.
After each weekly module, which takes place every 1.5 – 2 months, it is necessary to write an analytical work, the so-called Assignment, according to a strictly regulated structure with numerous reasoned references to the works of specialists with a high citation index. And in the second year of study, in addition to Assignments, you need to conduct your own research and write a Management Research Report (thesis). This work really requires time and concentration of forces.
To be honest, I wasn't fully prepared for such a load. My first year was very difficult, but having managed to overcome it, I began to notice qualitative changes in my attitude, how my knowledge was structured, and a new broader understanding of seemingly familiar processes appeared. You will begin to look at HR processes from the point of view of strategic partnership.
As you know, development can be evolutionary and revolutionary. So, in my opinion, studying at the Kingston University Business School under the IHRM program is a kind of "revolutionary" development that forces you to change your life for the sake of learning and achieving your goal. After completing this program, you will become different, absolutely stronger, people enriched with new knowledge. You will have new like-minded friends. I wish you to find the strength and opportunities to overcome all the difficulties on the way to getting an education at Kingston University Business School under the IHRM Masters program and discover new horizons for yourself!

Several years have already passed since the exciting moment of receiving the British Kingston diploma and confirmation of CIPD certification, and it is already possible, looking back, to highlight the most key and valuable thing that has remained with me so far, upon completion of my studies. After all, this, among other things, can be considered the result of training.
The three main values I received at the RANEPA and Kingston CIPD IHRM Masters program for my professional development:
The first is a clearer understanding of the business. Namely, how to build such a personnel management system, when each of its elements affects business indicators that are important for shareholders or business owners. The program helps to develop thinking beyond the HR function while deepening HR expertise. Without this competence, without the ability to look at the company "from above", it is voluminously and strategically difficult to be a leader and a conductor of change.
The second absolute value is people. The strongest representatives of the HR community studied with me and I have maintained a warm friendship with many of them. The program ended, but the people in my life remained and it is priceless. We have an internal space for communication. The program plans to develop Allumni not only HR programs, but also MBA and EMBA graduates, which will only strengthen us as a community.
And the third value of the program, which is important to note, is its international component. As a result, you have the opportunity to evaluate and analyze global trends in the field of personnel management, which means that you take them into account in your work and think one step ahead.
Immersion in the business context of different countries really helps to understand how the culture of a company, the culture of a country affects business processes and results, what impact it has on a particular industry. It was important for me at the time of making the decision about training, when I was working in the field of improving the efficiency of personnel activities and today, already as a consultant for the evaluation and development of managers.
Additionally, as a development consultant, I want to note that the duration of the program greatly affects the quality of development results. No short-term trainings can give the effect of changing thinking and perception of the world. I myself have completed two master's degrees, worked at the Skolkovo MBA, now I am engaged in long-term intra-corporate formats and I see from experience that multi-layered long-term programs combined with real work give a strong qualitative breakthrough not only in professional, but also in personal development.

For me, learning is more like getting out of the "box" in pursuit of insights. In the process of studying cases, communicating with teachers and classmates at the Advanced Management program, I always try to find something useful for my current work: whether we are talking about innovation, behavioral economics, authentic leadership or complex strategic decisions.
It is often possible to spy breakthrough ideas from a completely different industry and even a field of activity, in this sense, the international internships that are on the program are extremely useful. For example, I looked at the principle of operation of security systems and applied it to develop a system for automatic metering of runoff in cigarette storage devices (this was during my work at Philip Morris).
And, of course, curiosity! All the coolest changes in my life happened thanks to him, including participation in the "Leaders of Russia" contest.
When I entered the MBA program in Bradford (UK), my wife jokingly said that we got involved in a foreign currency mortgage. But the effort was justified! I sincerely believe that investing in one's own education is the most useful and recoupable investment. Money can depreciate, real estate can burn, stocks can lose value, etc. My head is always with me, no matter where I am!

I have always been particularly interested in working with entrepreneurs and developing small businesses in our country. Therefore, when the opportunity presented itself to influence the choice of direction for an internal internship, from the variety of options offered, I was pleased to support the internship "Development of the export potential of Udmurtia".
The internship took place in the format of business consulting, exchange of experience. Our group shared their professional and managerial experience, by the way, significant experience — high-class professionals, managers with experience are trained at the ADVANCED MANAGEMENT program.
During the internship, we managed to work with a variety of enterprises and organizations: The export center of Udmurtia, a fur farm, a network of KIDO children's clubs, the Made in Udmurtia trading house, as well as the Government of the Udmurt Republic, which showed great interest in our visit!
I really want to think that we have managed to make a real contribution to the development of the export potential of the Udmurt Republic!

Program: Advanced Management
The highlight of studying at the ADVANCED MANAGEMENT program for me was an internship in Germany on the topic of INDUSTRY 4.0. The internship turned out to be rich and interesting. We traveled half of Germany, visiting many enterprises (BOSCH, FRAUNHOFER, KARCHER, WTO), and the program was not limited to discussions and presentations, but, in most cases, included visits to real production facilities.
After the trip, "Industry 4.0" seems to me as a concept and direction for further development, and this is more the future than the present day at most production facilities in Germany. It was very interesting for me to see in practice in the production environment a lot of modern methods, approaches and technologies that make production efficient and allow us to produce products that fully comply with the concept of "German quality".
“I am Arun Sharma and finished my Master’s programme in Project Management in the year 2019. Moscow and RANEPA provided me international exposure, which changed my life. It prepares a student for a professional workspace that is ready to take charge and make wise business decision. Our programme offered high quality teachers, coming from all over the world with updated case studies to better prepare students for the future challenges. It not only helped me develop my hard skills but also my soft skills. I have come out to be a better project manager and a better professional, all thanks to our programme and RANEPA.”
“My name is Emilija Gligurvoska, from Macedonia. I have graduated with honors and earned the red diploma on the international Master’s studies in Project Management at The Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) in Moscow.
Being part of this program meant focusing on learning by doing approach. Acquiring knowledge through the rich content of the courses and the strong emphasis on real business cases, combined with leading and participating in a variety of different projects, in truly international teams, is an invaluable benefit from the program. Having as a professors, successful professionals in their sphere of teaching, from all over the world (from New Zealand to UK, USA, Middle East.) to guide our group and share their knowledge, was a real pleasure. Following the courses in small group, allowed us to have informal relationship with all the professors and made the classes interactive with encouraging in class participation.
The program gave me the opportunity to be certified in PRINCE2 – one of the globally accepted methodologies for Project management. Preparing for this certification exam was a challenge that we took as a master students in the Project Management program in RANEPA. The whole process of applying, training and examination was facilitated by our Professor Dr. Sarah Ross, which is certified trainer for PRINCE2 methodology, and by our Program Director Dr. Mitali Mittra. Thanks to their unselfish support and confidence, we successfully achieved this milestone.
As said in the PRINCE2 methodology, the output from the whole process, made me qualified for taking project endeavors and opened up a number of opportunities worldwide to build successful career as Project Manager. Now working as a Project manager in an international company in the market research field and global data collection is one of the most direct tangible results from my studies.
Having the proper academic knowledge made me adapt faster and develop my skills further in practice. I believe I have managed to successfully transfer the experience of all the projects that I have done in the program, including the work on my master thesis, in a fruitful way. Living and studying in Moscow is one of a lifetime experience that I recommend to every adventurist person out there. The two-year studies gave me time to experience Moscow in all the seasons, and it was worth it! And of course it wouldn’t be as great, without all the people that I have met and the friendships made for a lifetime, as part of the most enjoyable benefits from the program and the life in Russia. Great program, life-changing experience!”
“I have always thought about my future, about building a career, becoming a successful person and generally finding my own path in the life. For that reason, I laid out a plan for achieving this long-term aim. After graduating as an Industrial engineer from Ecole Nationale Polytechnique of Algiers, I had a plan to enter one of the best universities for my master degree. My participation in PGLS (Preparing Global Leaders summit) Moscow 2014 guided me to discover one of the best universities in Russia, RANEPA. With the objective of improving my skills and ambitions to become an expert in international business, I decided to continue my post-graduate studies in a globally recognized program, and I chose the MSc in Project Management at RANEPA. In all honesty, the design and structure of this program has met my interest, it has given me a chance to learn more about Time, Cost, and Quality management. I have also been able to acquire knowledge in several very vital areas of management, such as Project Management, International marketing, Operations management, and Change management. In addition to all these fields in Management, we have also covered other subjects that provide the necessary tools to support our core management skills in making the best decisions. We have covered other areas like “Financial management” for multinational Companies, Data Management and statistical analysis, etc. The professors and instructors employed by RANEPA, both Russians and internationals are top notch and truly experienced individuals who know their subjects extensively well and have passionately studied their fields. Furthermore, this program offers you the opportunity to study Russian language for free; 6 hours per week are offered in order to improve our Russian language abilities. After finishing my studies at RANEPA in 2017, I decided to go for a PhD in Canada, the quality of the program (MSc in Project Management) and its international aspect have helped me in my application for the PhD position in operations and decision systems at Laval University in Quebec City, Canada. Moscow is a truly amazing and unique city. Like any other huge city, there is no shortage of museums, restaurants, clubs, concerts and events to attend, but in Moscow, things are just different. The history and vitality of the city really comes through and can make just walking down the street a fascinating and fun experience. Really, everything about the city is amazing except the winter, which might be a bit tough.”
“Greetings from a land of coffee producing country! I am Marina Perez and an alumnus of the project management program. I graduated with a distinction and it is a proud moment for me. Being in project management means the field of management dealing with the leadership, organization, and planning, securing and controlling resources to achieve specific goals within a time- or funding-constrained project period. It is very important to be highly qualified in the Project Management field in order to succeed in the current globalized and extremely competitive business environment.
The RANEPA´S MSc. in Project Management is a program designed in a brilliant and innovative way, which guarantees the acquisition and development of highly competitive administrative and analytical skills. The structure of the program allows complete immersion in the topics taught that are developed both theoretically and in a practical way through the analysis of real case studies provided by private companies exclusively for the university, and through the development of pilot projects that later have the potential to be carried out.
Of course, a well-structured program cannot be successful without high-level professors and experts. This Project Management program is taught by professionals with academic as well as business experience. The RANEPA´S MSc in Project Management gave me the necessary skills and knowledge to cope with the current competitive working environment, and made me competent to develop my professional career as a project manager in a global way. Thank you all!”
“Hi everyone! My name is Mert. I have had a chance to be a part of the RANEPA family since 2019 with the Project Management Master’s Program. From first application to graduation, every member of the family; especially Dear Dr. Mitali Mittra, has taken care of me and I have always been aware that somebody is ready to help me with lectures, education, accommodation, social life, paperwork, etc. Besides, the program helped me to find out new perspectives and although I am an architect, I have learned to combine my profession with management and marketing doctrines. I hope I will benefit from the things I learned in the future. Lastly, I should mention that I have had quite good friends both in the academy and in the city. Moscow is a beautiful city where you can find social and art activities, nightlife, friends, cinemas, theatres; in short, you can find whatever you look for. The bonus is beautiful white views of the city. But do not forget to take warm clothes with you.”
“Hi I am Ekaterina Lugovskaya and I have graduated with honors from Project Management program. My decision to attend the project management master's program at RANEPA in 2018-2020 came in very useful and contributed a lot to the development of my future career path. Currently I am a public relations specialist in Hyundai Motor CIS Company - one of the leading automotive brands both in Russia and abroad. I had to study and work hard in order to achieve what I have now.
Project management is one of the most popular and promising business areas nowadays. It helps to achieve great results and successfully implement various projects of any kind, scale and complexity - especially in a challenging environment we live in now. The project management educational program at RANEPA became a priceless guide into the world of delivering projects and a real boot camp focused on mastering main principles and useful techniques of project management. We also deepened our expertise in several other allied disciplines, such as crisis, change, operational and financial management as well as marketing, consulting, data analysis and what not. At the end of the program, we earned the PRINCE2 Foundation International Certificate in Project Management, which proved the high level of skills, and knowledge we managed to gain during the study.
I would also like to mention an ideal balance of theory and practice kept at RANEPA. Insightful lectures from both Russian and foreign external professors and business gurus were mixed with engaging practical tasks: case studies, hands-on projects and interesting teamwork tasks. My peers and mentors were absolutely great and we still keep in touch with most of them. I would definitely recommend the project management master's program for those who are striving for bright future and remarkable career!”
Hello! I am Evgeniya Strizakova. I finished my Master’s programme in Project management in the year 2017. I was selected as one of the best students of RANEPA. I graduated with a distinction. I would like to share some good news with you all about my life and me. I am a key account manager in a multinational company Hasbro, happily married with a beautiful small daughter who is five months old.
RANEPA was just as a second home and our Project Management program had the essence of international traditions and culture, which were transmitted to the students, kept us engaged and unified. I remember the joint classes, New Year celebrations etc. The content of the courses always had team presentation, which was great. I still remember our Consultancy project. We would discuss a range of topics, and I found myself often having to re-evaluate a previously held opinion or stance. This module was very helpful for me while getting my first job at MARS.
I am grateful to all my teachers for the ways they pushed me, encouraged me, and never appeased me with a quick answer. I am grateful for their honesty, direct communication, and friendly spirit.
We all valued a bonded campus community that preserve connections with individuals beyond their time as students of the university. I have some memories of humour and sometimes fear in the classroom to get something wrong. Dr. Mittra and Dr. Ross were always sympathetic towards the students and were able to diagnose the reasons for difficulties they had in the classroom. They were very strict too.
I often miss my golden days at the university, that exciting community, free student discounts, library access and cultural events that made our university unique and dynamic. Our program Project Management taught me to be analytical, critical and structured. I can face the challenges of the new world.
Mitali and Margarita, lots of love to you from your bouncy naughty Zenya, Ivan (alumni of the program and my husband) and my little Leya.
“After working for 5 years as Operational Manager & Project engineer in some of the renowned groups from India such as Tata etc., I have been looking for boost in career with an impactful academia specifically in European region. So my search halted with International Project Management Program in the Russian Presidential Academy, Moscow. This program provided me an amazing opportunity to interact and compete with multinational classmates having significant experience in diverse fields. Apart from it the institute is located at the heart of Moscow a really vibrant, dynamic and alive city which provides innumerable opportunities to learn new facts at every moment also the city is full of museums, restaurants, clubs, concerts and events providing opportunities for entertainment.
The Project Management program is organized in a very structured manner, which is being supervised regularly from Program director and assisted by coordinators ideally and dynamically. The Program consists of number of subjects, which are being taught by globally renowned Professors, industry experts, significantly successful project managers, top-level executives and directors of big firms. Interaction with these intellectuals did not only improve our learning and experience of management but also gave clear sense towards handling tough practical issues by applying managerial tools. These instructors have been putting their best to blend the theory with the practical approaches. I have found some of the amazing courses under this program such as Strategic Management, Strategic Marketing, Data Analysis and statistics, Change Management, Strategic Project Management, Financial Management, Consultancy Management, Supply Chain Management and Managerial economics etc. At RANEPA, apart from having ideal and massive giant infrastructure there were some surprising facts such as shifting all programs into online mode without wasting any time immediately after the Pandemic or global crisis began.
I am grateful to be a part of this institute and indeed, it was a wonderful experience to be among my peers, professors and business professionals.”

"I am Elsa Saitova, I live in Japan, I was educated at RANEPA. Our whole life is one big project or hundreds, thousands of small ones: new challenges at work, the birth of a child, our own development. For me, learning how to manage a project meant learning how to manage my life and achieve my goals. I was in the first stream of the program, we had a fairly high competition at the time of admission, so the students I studied with were the most ambitious and purposeful, which played an important role in group and team work during my studies. The biggest plus of the program is the subjects that are as practical as possible and close to reality in business, in fact, I gained experience working in an international team and gained knowledge of international business thanks to teachers from universities in other countries. I still remember how, after defending one of the projects on the Project Management course, Dr. Sarah Ross said: "Such projects change lives, thanks to your ideas and actions, you can leave a mark in this world." This experience of communicating with high-class professors and students laid the foundations of ethics and my basic principles of doing business, managing projects and people. At the moment I work in Japan, in the automotive industry, before that I worked in Europe, managed a factory. I move around the world with ease, thanks to the knowledge and skills acquired in the international English-speaking Master's degree in International Project Management. I feel comfortable in an international environment, managing people from different countries and achieving my business and personal goals."
Nigerian Oludola Akinterinwa defended the project "Market Entry Strategy for International Business in e-commerce in Nigeria" with "excellent" and receives a red diploma of the English-speaking Master's degree in International Business Faculty of International MBA Programs of the Institute of Social Sciences (ION) Kingston/RANEPA. The graduate told how his studies at RANEPA were given to him and shared his plans.
Oludola is 27 years old, and he is not a novice in Moscow: he came to study as a chemical industry engineer at the Mendeleev Russian Technical Technical University back in 2013. He also has two entrepreneurial projects of his own – in the confectionery industry and finance. After the young man plunged headlong into business, he realized that after all, practice alone is not enough - it is necessary to master the theoretical base. For this base, the Nigerian entrepreneur came to the Master's international English-language program "International Business" of the FMP MBA ION Kingston/RANEPA.
"You will never know the result if you don't try to do it. I always tell myself that the only way to succeed in something is to start doing it, even if I'm not completely sure about the whole process. But you learn, you gain knowledge in any case, and this is the difference between success and failure. The two projects I started didn't work out because I had calculated everything properly from the beginning. I saw an opportunity, took advantage of it and studied already, so to speak, "on the go", on the way. That's why it was so important for me to get the theoretical foundations of business offered by the Kingston/RANEPA Master's program," says Oludola.
Oludola also spoke at the Moscow Summit of African Entrepreneurship in November 2019, at which he was invited to speak, about how important it is to take the first step and not stand still any longer, but to develop.
"There is no perfect time to start," he believes. "Or rather, you'll never know if you stay where you are. And when you have taken the first step, go further – study, gain knowledge and new skills in your chosen professional activity. Solving problems is the key to creating wealth."
The graduate notes how interesting the training was built on the master's program "International Business": the combination of individual and group work developed team skills and led to the building of a team. He also liked the distribution of the training load, built taking into account the fact that classes were held in the evening and were designed for people working during the day.
"I've always looked forward to classes," says Oludola Akinterinwa. – I would especially like to mention such subjects as "Operational Management", "Management Economics", "International Business Environment", "Strategies for entering new Markets", "Innovation and Project Management". It seems to me that as soon as you really immerse yourself in the topic and are really interested in what you are doing, you stop thinking about it as something incredibly difficult and unattainable. So it happened with my classes: although all the subjects were new to me and far from simple, but I got carried away and mastered them with pleasure."
Oludola Akinterinva emphasizes both the professional clarity with which he was helped to apply for the master's program, and the sense of belonging to the RANEPA student fraternity that arose during his studies through communication with other undergraduates at the institute and in his spare time.
Despite high employment and a large range of responsibilities in work and study, Oludola manages to play sports and travel. He plays basketball with friends and regularly trains on his own. I have visited Volgograd, Kursk, Sochi, Kaluga, Tver, and other cities of Russia. And he also likes to read novels, draw and do baking – it's no coincidence that his business is connected with the confectionery industry.
Ten years later, Oludola Akinterinva, holder of the red diploma, graduate of the Master's program "International Business" ION-2020, presents itself at the head of an international concern. He is guided by the motto "Work on being, not having. Be the best at what you do, and then both people and success will come to you."
"The project management program at RANEPA for me is a great opportunity to get relevant knowledge from professionals in their field who have honed their skills not only in theory, but also in long–term practice, using the latest project management technologies. Participants of the Master's degree program are given the opportunity to obtain international certifications: PRINCE2, PMI, PMP. With a Master of Science degree, many doors open to graduates: from large corporations to their own entrepreneurship - that is why it is worth giving preference to this program. In addition, future masters will have a rich cultural student life and international relations in the future, as participants from all over the world are being selected for the program."
"The Project Management program makes us take a fresh look at project management processes, opens up an integrated approach based on the best world methodologies. The experience shared by practicing teachers, business managers and those who have implemented projects in various fields is especially useful. I am sure that this knowledge is necessary for a modern manager. And most importantly, the program has united us into a strong team, which we remain after completing our studies. I wish success to everyone who chose the path with the Project Management Program!"
“In MSc. Project Management, the course is taught entirely in English which not only helps to bridge the communication barriers between local and international students, but most importantly the course was designed to expose students with Business English which is widely used within the international business context. As a former designer with Arts and Design background, this has helped me tremendously to grasp new business concepts while developing critical thinking skills particularly problem solving which is a requirement for aspiring business leaders of a VUCA-driven world. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the classes were swiftly switched into an online learning mode via ZOOM. From traditional classrooms lectures, we have adapted under the new normal by becoming more tech savvy with online classes and exams including defence presentations. This was only made possible under the helpful guidance of Dr. Mitali Mittra as the Director of the Project Management programme, which I am truly grateful to.”
Listen to your mother – and everything will be fine! The old truth never fails: it was Nikita's mother who found information about RANEPA, read it, was inspired by the prospects and positive reviews, and, as a result, Nikita Tsitsin from the urban-type settlement of Sharkovshchina, Vitebsk region of the Republic of Belarus, entered the Northwestern Institute of Management of RANEPA in St. Petersburg.
After graduating with a bachelor's degree there, Nikita entered the English-language master's program of the Faculty of International MBA Programs of the Institute of Social Sciences (ION) of RANEPA in Moscow at "International Business", where he is currently studying in the second year.
Nikita rightfully shares his experience of studying at RANEPA, since he can compare both different branches and different institutes. He tested it on himself and says that "The system inside the Academy is built so that no one feels constrained or lost both during study and outside of it." It turned out to be more difficult for him to adapt to the rhythm of life in Moscow than in St. Petersburg, but everything went comfortably in terms of training.
It should be noted that Nikita is a proactive person. It can be said that it works ahead of the curve. He is responsible for planning his future. In the third year of his bachelor's degree, Tsitsin decided to take part in a new student project – the All-Russian Youth Management Cup "Manage". I decided – and entered the top - 10 winners of the first season of the cup. And the participants in the season were about 30,000 students from different universities from all over the country.
The Manage Cup is held and supported by several Russian educational institutions, including RANEPA, North Caucasus Federal University, Ural Federal University, etc., and Sberbank, MTS, Gazprom Neft, etc. participate from the business side. After the All-Russian Management Cup Nikita took part in the National Championship on strategy and Business Management GMC. Global Management Challenge (GMC) – the largest business simulator in the world. It has existed since the 70s, and RANEPA has been holding it in Russia since 2006. Nikita did not just take part, but became the GMC champion of Russia and represented the Russian national team at the World Championship in Dubai, the capital of the UAE.
"The most difficult thing in these competitions," he says, "was everything related to professional skills, hard skills. More specifically, it is the knowledge of financial and scenario modeling, statistical analysis. I had to master working with Power BI, Power Query, the M language, and VBA programs on my own. But it all came in handy both for winning the competition and for the portfolio."
GMC, in fact, is held in order for participants to demonstrate both solid professional knowledge and systematic thinking, the ability to make strategic decisions and work in a team. The victory in the GMC national championship and a convincing set of professional skills played an important role in the fact that Nikita Tsitsin was hired as a financial manager for working with key customers in the American multinational company Procter & Gamble.
Nikita has been working at P&G for a year and a half. Works during the day, studies in the evening. Tsitsin tells: "I live in a dormitory in building #4 on campus. The conditions are more than favorable. In fact, the hostel has become a home, and students and neighbors have become friends." Indeed, it is convenient that Nikita spends no more than five minutes on the road from evening lectures.
Tsitsin continues: "The training is entirely in English. The program is full and balanced. Conducting lectures in the evenings makes it possible to combine study with work without prejudice to both directions. Most of all, I liked and like such subjects as "Corporate Finance", "Econometrics", "Mathematical Analysis", "Statistics", "Accounting" - everything that is somehow related to work. I would like to mention the courses Timur Atnashev and Mitali Mitra. I literally feel for myself how the Academy adapts to the changing realities of the modern labor market and the inexorably growing demands of the best employers in the country and the world. That's cool. Unfortunately, there is almost no time left to take a walk...", Nikita smiles.
But he treats this philosophically. The main thing, according to him, "you need to do your job in such a way that you are not ashamed of yourself." And now, when there is almost no free time left, Nikita prefers to use it to read professional literature and communicate with mentors, whom he acquired through participation and victory in the Manage Cup and GMC. Nikita looks up to mentors when he imagines his future professional career.
Nikita remarks: "It's nice that not only students, but also professors have become my friends at the Academy. They helped me start studying, and now, by the end of my studies, I am becoming a professional. Now I'm both happy and sad. On the one hand, I have the last year of study. On the other hand, new opportunities are opening up, such as, perhaps, moving to another country for work, or some other professional changes".
Nyaga Bill Mureti, a graduate of MSc in International Business from Kenya: "An unusual climate is not a reason not to come to Moscow to study!"
One day, Nyaga Bill Mureti decided to go on a tour of the RANEPA campus in the southwest of Moscow. The Kenyan then studied at the Moscow State Technical University of Civil Aviation on a bachelor's degree program in aviation technology, and friends told him about the Presidential Academy.
"It wasn't easy to get inside," Bill smiles. "Friends helped. But when I found myself at the academy, walked around the huge beautiful campus, saw students playing football, and felt an incredibly amazing atmosphere, I realized unequivocally that I want to be part of this world."
Bill is a determined man. Studied Master's degree options in English in the field of business development and enrolled in the International Business program Faculty of International MBA Programs of the Institute of Social Sciences (ION) of the RANEPA. This summer, Nyaga Bill defended his final qualifying work with "excellent" and received a "red diploma".
Now the graduate shares his memories of entering and studying at the Academy: "The entrance test turned out to be quite difficult for me, but the friendly atmosphere and support at ION helped me a lot. Almost all of our courses were new to me: having an engineering degree, I didn't know much about business and management.
I would like to highlight such courses as "Financial Management and Corporate Finance" by Associate Professor, PhD Teymuraz Vashakmadze, "Strategic Management and Strategic Analysis" by Associate Professor, PhD Timur Atnashev, "Supply Chain Management", Associate Professor, PhD Emil Martirosyan and the course "International Marketing" PhD Mittali Mitra".
Nyaga Bill notes the innovation in the methods of presenting the material and the goodwill of the teachers, starting with the entrance test and throughout the study. "There have also been extraordinary "delicious" tasks: for example, once in a class on "Operational Management" a British teacher from Kingston University Nick Reed asked the students to go to a restaurant. But not only to eat delicious food, but to study how a catering company works, and then come up with a strategy to change its work in order to attract more visitors," says the graduate.
"All two years I studied with pleasure," says Nyaga Bill, "even though classes were in the evening, and I spent two hours on the road. I probably only missed three classes all the time. It's great to learn with joy. And I wrote my graduation paper with great pleasure."
For the diploma, Bill chose the difficult topic "The future of the company in the gig economy: Coase theory in a modern context." I studied how companies will develop in the era of the gig economy - an economy model that assumes a free and short–term form of employment and whose driving force is a large number of professionals with a set of skills from different fields of activity. Bill considered the issue of companies investing in the creation of extensive networks that unite such professionals, and the future benefits from this. The graduate of the master's degree is sure that this topic is especially relevant during the pandemic, when the number of online workers has sharply increased and the demand for specialists who can solve non-standard tasks has increased.
Bill is now 26 years old. He lives in Moscow for six of them. "I have made a lot of friends during this time, and I feel at home here. I don't like the weather because of extreme extremes - very hot summers and very cold winters. Yes, it's hotter in Moscow than in my native Nairobi! But an unusual climate is not a reason not to come to Moscow to study and join the academic environment and culture. RANEPA has given me a lot, and I hope to use these skills and knowledge one hundred percent to become a true professional in international business," he shared.
